IN ADDITION WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO APOLOGISE TO ANY TSB STAFF THAT HAVE BEEN UPSET BY THE ACTIONS OF BANKROBBERS.ORG THIS WAS NOT OUR INTENTION AND WE ARE SINCERELY SORRY.
WE HAVE NOW ADDED A BLOG TO THIS SITE. IT GIVES A HISTORY OF OUR CAMPAIGN. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK IF YOU HAVE TIME.
DISAPPOINTING
In the 1990's TSB had an Assigned Funds Policy in place which allowed the bank to take funds from a customers account without their knowledge or consent.
THEY HAVE THAT MONEY TO THIS DAY.
YOU TOO?
We are concerned that other TSB customers may have had money moved from their accounts into an Asigned Funds Account and that they are unaware that this has happened to them.
It's not clear why TSB moved customers money into an Assigned Funds Account but it has been suggested by staff that it was possibly something to do with Council Tax arrears.
We have seen two occasions where an account was completely emptied resulting in charges being levied by TSB.
Yes, incredibly it's true. TSB emptied an account then charge for the overdraft, bounced cheques etc. that resulted.
AND YES THE TSB BANK STILL HAS THEIR MONEY.
WHERE'S THE MONEY NOW?
AND HOW MUCH WAS TAKEN?
It's difficult to believe that a bank could or would do this but TSB took money from their customers' accounts without permission or warning.
At this point we are not aware of this money being returned
How much money is there?
We cannot know but if they took £1154.50 from just one account...
How do you get your money back?
Sadly there is a limit to how far back the Financial Ombudsman is able to go without the express permission of the TSB Bank and so as it stands there is little the ombudsman service can do.
What now?
Ultimately we would like the Financial Ombudsman Service to look into this matter and we would like TSB Bank to step up and help make this happen. We would like TSB Bank and any other bank who have used Assigned Funds Accounts or something similar to return any money they still have and to compensate customers.
DOES THE TSB BANK HAVE YOUR MONEY?
It's time for banks to come clean.
We hope that brining this matter to the attention of the public and media will encourage the TSB Bank to open their Assigned Funds account refunding and compensating any and all customers who were victims of this policy. It should not be left to customers to show they had money taken. Banks have the records, access and resources. They need to find out who's money they took and refund and compensate.
What can you do?
Given the TSB Assigned Funds policy was in place a good while ago it might be difficult to discover if you were a victim. If you still have your bank statements from the 1990's early 2000's you should look through them for any sign of Assigned Funds being taken from your account. Of course the TSB Bank can easily look into their archives and find the details of the customers affected BUT as was shown with the PPI scandal banks are often reluctant to help.
If you believe you had money taken from your account because of the TSB Assigned Funds policy you should contact the TSB Bank CEO Deddie Crosbie and ask her to check you account and refund and compensate you accordingly.
